Custom Bow Ties a.k.a Bespoke Bow Ties

What is wrong with my bow tie?

Have you ever wondered why a gentleman wearing a bow tie may not always look as sharp as Sean Connery, whether portraying James Bond or Indian Jone’s father Prof. Jones? Yes, physique may be one reason, jacket or shirt colar another, but a less obvious reason may be the bow tie.

As already discussed on previous posts, each man should wear a tie according to his height and body type and hence the need for custom made ties. Likewise, a gentleman should wear a bow tie that flatters his face.

One size fits all?

When shopping for a bow tie, it becomes obvious that most bow ties come in the same size, that is height and width, and with an adjustable band. One fits all. That is not neccesaraly bad, if you are one of the lucky ones. If not, then a standard size bow tie can act as a benchmark to establish the actual size needed when ordering a custom bow tie for the wearer. In reality, one size cannot fit all.

Faces come in different shapes and sizes. Some faces are round, while other may be square. A rule of thump is that the custom bow tie’s width should always go past the eyes but never pass the ears.

Additional advantages of a custom bow tie, are that the gentleman can select shape, height, type of fabric, pattern, interlining, fixed or adjustable band length. KYDOS custom bow ties, offer an additional advantage, that is the meticulous hand sewing, results of which are visible on the custom bow ties pictured, made of green madder fabric for Greek poet Georgios Andreanos and two more in yellow and purple madder for other clients of ours.
